Play readings: “Kafka’s Dick and “Plaza Suite”

Plaza Hotel, New York CityOur “Monday” play readings switch to Wednesdays for the next couple of weeks, venue to be arranged.

On Wednesday 1 February we’ll be reading Kafka’s Dick by Alan Bennett. Franz Kafka and his friend Max Brod make a surprise appearance in a suburban home in Leeds.

A week later, on Wednesday 8 February, we’ll be taking a look at Plaza Suite by Neil Simon, a comedy set in the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Its three acts tell three separate stories, all set in the same hotel room.

More interruptions possible

Jolly RogerThe baddies are still trying to infiltrate our Web site.

They now seem to be targeting the “Media” folder, where the pictures are kept. So I have cunningly renamed it. An unfortunate side-effect of this is that for a short time the pictures may not be available. But I’m sure this will not be a major problem. Please bear with it.

Very soon we shall be changing hosts (a move prompted by these attacks, but only in a very indirect way). Until then, I hope we shall be able to limp along.

David

Lucie takes a stand

Coat standYou don’t know his name, but you have probably seen him in a supporting role.

He has been on stage more often than all but the longest-serving of Tagora’s actors. And now Lucie Broisin – the set designer who made an important contribution to two of our shows last year – has recruited him as a guest star in Artus’ production of Avant/après by Roland Schimmelpfennig.

He is … the Tagora coat stand.

Something to bear in mind

Chekhov seems to be very much in vogue at present. Our friends in Le Brigadier theatre company are presenting Les petits Tchekhov II at the Cube noir from 18 to 26 February, while at the end of January The Bear Educational Theatre is offering a workshop/performance in English aimed at young people.

It takes place in Haguenau on Sunday 29 January.
